Beginner Slacklines
LET’S GET STARTED!
-
Get yourself a Slackline Kit (15 m or less for first timers, 25 m if you’ve tried it before and want the extra challenge for the future).
- Find 2 strong and healthy trees (at least 30 cm diameter), that are around 5 – 10 meters apart. Check out the International Slackline Association’s guidelines for trees here.
- Install your tree protectors (protects your gear and the trees!). Most kits come with tree protectors, though additional ones can be purchased for bigger trees here.
- Setup your slackline as per the instruction manual provided. You can also check out the product setup videos on our website.
- Start learning! Use a spotter to hold your hand while you evolve your sense of balance (you will progress faster this way).
- Once you can walk, get on the internet and find some new slackline tricks to try!
TOP TIPS FOR BEGINNERS
-
Eyes up and hold focus – level with your eyes on the tree
-
Feet straight and parallel – heel in the middle
-
Hips forward – maintain a straight spine for front/back balance
-
Arms up – high centre of gravity allows more time to correct mistakes
-
Step down – avoid jumping off, it can build a habit that limits you later
-
Breathe and relax
-
Use a spotter to hold your hand – progression is faster
